A few weeks ago I wrote about a gorgeous wedding I worked on. It was some of my best work and I honestly believe it was because I had a lot of free reign. Which got me thinking about some of the favourite things I’ve designed.
What did they all have in common? They were using leftover flowers. Flowers that had no purpose except for me to play and practice.
A few years ago we painted our lounge dark green (yes, I’m a cliché millennial). Despite painting a spot in my studio specifically for taking photos, I much prefer using the lounge. The fireplace surround, in particular, is one of my preferred places to photograph creations.
My style is so evident in these photos. I even use one of these images on my business cards. You’re welcome to guess which one!
I’ve set myself the target of reaching 100 subscribers by the end of the year. (On a side note I’m really pleased and impressed with myself for sticking with my floral essays - this is the 10th edition!) I’m currently on 82 and so grateful to have you all here! Do you know someone who needs some lovely florals in their life? Please share this essay to them.
With love,
P.S. I’m running lots of workshops in Glasgow, UK over the next couple of months. In October there’s flower arranging and in November and December there’s wreath making. Would love to see you there!
I make the stoves black background part of the setting like a Dutch still life so really relate to your photos
I take photos of flowers in front of my wood burning stove in summer
It is now sadly time to tidy them away and replace with neat wood piles for days when the temperature drops below zero and we will not have a fuel allowance
